“Wouldn’t you just love to go outside, dig up some soil and make meaningful & beautiful creations out of it for free?”
This workshop was filmed during my annual Artist in Residency at El Semillero Wild Living Sanctuary of Puerto Rico. Proceeds benefit this very special place on Planet Earth.
Why Wild Clay?
Clay tells a story of the past, invites us into the present and offers gifts for the future. Since the dawn of time humans have worked with clay, from drinking vessels to building structures. Literally and figuratively our ancestors are in Earth’s clay rich soil. Playing with wild clay gives us an opportunity to reconnect with our humanity through the nature world. By getting outside, foraging for clay, processing it with water, creating with our hands, drying it with air and vitrifying it with fire we become alchemists of the elements. I am so grateful to walk the path of a potter, grateful for those that have walked before me and for those that are yet to walk. I invite you to walk with me.
