WILD CLAY

An In-Person Primative Pottery Workshop

WHEN & WHERE

UNITY CLAY
Bucks County, PA
Friday, May 20
5pm-8pm

- All materials included
- Only 8 spots available

This is the perfect opportunity to explore, expand & deepen your relationship with nature using local materials and handmade tools. People have been making pottery since the dawn of human civilization with simple tools and local materials but over time it has evolved into a complex, expensive and heavily mechanized process. This workshop offers us an alternative method that celebrates the ancient and elemental art of pottery.

No studio, no electricity, no kiln, no budget, no problem!

TOPICS COVERED:
- Harvesting & processing wild clay
- Techniques for making a clay pot
- Creating brushes & tools made from nature
- Creating texture with natural objects
- Making colored slip from natural pigments
- Polishing & burnishing
- Setting up a bonfire/open air firing
- Naturally sealing your pots

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEAVE WITH:
- Detailed handouts on all content covered in the workshop
- A leather-hard, decorated pot made with locally sourced wild clay & engobe
- A ceramic tool made from natural objects
