What is Mesa LIFESTYLE?
“Mesa” (like Lisa with an M) is my nickname given by my eldest niece many moons ago. “Lifestyle” is the way I choose to live my sacred, wild, precious life, full of joy and in reciprocity with the natural world. I aspire to live with kindness as my driving force and to do my part to keep the creative spirit alive and well within myself and my community.
My Past
Formerly, I was a very intense and highly competitive person, who lived by the "no pain, no gain" mentality. I didn't listen to my body, I didn't know rest without sleep, I believed emotions were weakness and that boundaries were selfish. I was convinced that I was so easygoing that I had no needs, so I constantly tended others’ needs. I thought that true love meant taking on responsibilities to alleviate their suffering. Needless to say, I had a lot to learn...
My Journey
2006 was a turning point in my life, a year of immense personal suffering and growth. I had just returned form perhaps the greatest outward adventure of my life, exploring the enchanted land of New Zealand and quickly my world flipped upside down. It began with two deaths in the family, emotional heartbreak, a painful diagnosis of ulcerative colitis and a skateboarding accident that lead to two back to back knee surgeries and six months being unable to walk. During this recovery period I embarked on perhaps the greatest inward adventure of my life, exploring my inner realm of getting to know my mind and emotions. This time period enabled me to start listening to and honoring my inner voice, eventually helping me to make bold choices that prioritized my personal health and growth. I quit my job as a graphic designer to focus on creating art. I started my practice in Yoga and sustainable living. I ended a toxic relationship to empower myself as an independent being. I moved out of the city to be closer to nature. These choices slowly but surely drastically improved my overall health, expanded my emotional spectrum and fostered a deeper sense of genuine connection.
My Present
Today, I live a healthy and fulfilling life in MINIMUS my hand-built, off-grid tiny house on wheels. Bucks County, PA is where I call home but I spend quite a bit of my time exploring this majestic planet. My life is a grand and glorious adventure that I am grateful for everyday.
