100th Anniversary of our right to VOTE LADIES!
It is so ridiculous to me that only 100 years ago we did not have this right. My great grandmothers and aunts did not have this right. Personally the most intelligent, compassionate, creative, powerful humans I know are all women and damn straight we should have a say in what goes on. I find it pretty ironic that this 100 year celebration falls on an election year and nonetheless such a tumultuous one.
I’ll be honest with you, I do not vote because I wholeheartedly believe or trust in our broken system. I vote for sheer honor, dignity and respect for the women who came before me. I vote for the women who fought for this right. I vote for the women who were abused, impressioned, injured, beaten and dead for this right. I vote for the women whose strength and righteousness inspire me. I vote for the women whose energy is alive in me. You did not fight for nothin’ ladies! I vote in your honor today and every election. This election I have even chosen to work at the polls because guess what? Women are allowed to do that now too!!!
Wanna know a few other things us we were not “allowed” to do just 100 years ago:
Where F&*$ PANTS! (for real)
Keep our maiden name
Join the military
Get a divorce
Easily obtain birth control
Smoke in public
Own property if married
Shop without and escort
Work fair hours
Serve in a jury
Compete in a wide variety of Olympic Sports
Have our own passport if we were married
I know some of you out there are on the fence about voting. Perhaps you don't believe in the system, or you don’t think your vote really counts, or you don’t really support either candidate. I hear you. But for our ancestors, as a sign of RESPECT, please show up today and VOTE. Simply choose the candidate you dislike the least, or the candidate that you believe will lead us in somewhat of a direction of kindness, inclusivity and peace. Choose the candidate that you think will most likely help to REUNITE the United States of America.
