Tree House Part II
I only had a couple of days to work on the treehouse but every moment of it was pure joy. Quite honestly, I was obsessed. The Hive was such an incredible 3 dimensional canvas and will be a continuous work in progress for years to come. It was just so much fun because there was no pressure, expectation or need for perfection, I could simply play. I could design on the fly and practice my skills with every cut.
Up until a few years ago my work was primarily 2 dimensional with the exception of pottery. But since building Minimus (my tiny house), I have felt a deeper desire to shift gears to 3 dimensional, functional work. As my carpentry skills improve I am finding saws becoming my paint brush and wood becoming my clay and it is so damn empowering. As women in our culture we are generally not brought up to know the difference between a circular saw and a jig saw, let alone feel confident using them. I am forever blessed because my father taught me these things. And I am forever grateful because my spirit nudges me to be a bad ass women that doesn’t let boundaries and societal norms it get in the way of creativity and passion.
Which leads me to a question for all you ladies out there... would you like gain some confidence with basic hand tools and power tools? Would you like to build something with me someday?
