Alternating Nostril Breathing

Do you ever feel like you can’t quiet the chatter in your mind? Alternate nostril breathing helps calm an “overactive” mind. By slowing down and extending both the inhalation and the exhalation, the body and mind will automatically start to slow down. In Yoga it is understood that if we learn to regulate the way we breathe, we can gain greater control over our mind as well. I find this pranayama (breath control) technique specifically helpful when I am not living from a heart centered place, meaning my emotions or mind are getting the best of me. Alternating Nostril breathing has a way of bringing me back to center, my heart.
